Exiled Exchange 2 Settings: Best POE 2 Configuration

Exiled Exchange 2 settings control shortcuts, price-check behaviour, league selection, overlay widgets, chat commands, and application preferences. The best configuration is the smallest reliable setup that fits your POE 2 workflow.

Names and available controls can change by release, so use this guide by function rather than expecting every label to remain identical.

How to Open Settings

Start Exiled Exchange 2 and open Settings from its window or system-tray menu. If hidden, check the tray overflow area and confirm the process is running.

The official common-issues page links a Windows case where settings cannot be opened from the tray while the game is active. If that happens:

  1. switch to Windowed Fullscreen;
  2. bring the app forward outside the game;
  3. match the permission level of POE 2 and the app;
  4. close competing overlays;
  5. quit the tray process fully;
  6. restart one instance.
  • use Windowed Fullscreen;
  • keep default price-check shortcuts initially;
  • select the current league;
  • enable only widgets you use;
  • avoid conflicts with game, recording, voice, and overlay keys;
  • keep filters broad until item detection works;
  • change one setting at a time;
  • back up configuration before a reset.

Hotkey Settings

The official Quick Start lists these defaults:

| Action | Default | | --- | --- | | Price check | Ctrl + D | | Persistent price check | Ctrl + Alt + D | | Open item wiki | Alt + W | | Widget overlay | Shift + Space | | Go to hideout | F5 | | Character selection | F9 | | Scroll stash tabs | Ctrl + MouseWheel |

Some functions are unassigned to avoid conflicts. Avoid keys used by POE 2 skills, flasks, chat, Windows, mouse software, Discord, recorders, or another overlay.

See the hotkeys guide.

Normal vs Persistent Price Check

Ctrl + D opens the normal window and usually hides after mouse movement. Hold Ctrl while moving into it.

Ctrl + Alt + D opens a persistent window. Use it when adjusting several filters or comparing a complex rare.

If auto-hide feels like focus loss, compare the persistent shortcut and read the minimization guide.

Price-Check Filters

Exiled Exchange 2 does not produce a guaranteed price automatically. Players select relevant modifiers.

A practical approach is to confirm the item base, keep build-defining modifiers, use pseudo totals, remove minor constraints, broaden ranges, compare several listings, and treat suspiciously cheap listings cautiously.

Selecting every modifier can produce an overly complex or uselessly narrow query.

League Settings

Confirm the league after a new launch, migration, or update. If leagues do not load, check internet access, official service availability, VPN/proxy, firewall events, logs, and the app version.

Do not permanently change unrelated settings for a temporary outage.

Overlay and Window Settings

Use Windowed or Windowed Fullscreen. Exclusive Fullscreen is not supported by the official requirements.

For a reliable overlay, run both programs at the same permission level, close competing overlays during setup, test on the primary monitor, use consistent scaling, reset off-screen placement if needed, and verify the launcher does not include --no-overlay.

Widget Settings

Shift + Space opens configured widgets. Enable only widgets that solve a real task. After adding one, test opening, closing, focus, and shortcut behaviour before adding another.

Chat Command Settings

The default F5 goes to hideout and F9 exits to character selection. Reassign them if they conflict with your keyboard layout, recorder, or game controls.

Multiple Monitors

If a window opens off-screen, temporarily set the POE 2 monitor as primary, use similar scaling, restart both programs, reset stored position, and reconnect disabled displays after testing.

Where Configuration Is Stored

The official documentation identifies %APPDATA%\exiled-exchange-2 on Windows and notes that apt-data contains configuration.

Before resetting, quit the app, copy apt-data, rename the application-data directory, launch clean state, test defaults, and restore only settings you need.

If migrating from Awakened POE Trade, the upstream README says to set windowTitle to Path of Exile 2.

Safe Troubleshooting Profile

Test with the current official version, Windowed Fullscreen, current league, default Ctrl + D, one monitor where practical, no other overlays, matching normal permissions, a common item, and clean configuration after backup.

Common Problems

Settings Will Not Open

Quit the tray instance, use Windowed Fullscreen, match permissions, and close overlay conflicts.

Hotkeys Do Nothing

Check conflicts, clipboard text, display mode, permissions, duplicate processes, and --no-overlay.

Values Are Missing

Verify item text, pseudo stats, league, filters, version, and service response. Read the values guide.

A Trade Request Fails

Check service availability, league data, VPN/proxy, rate limiting, and logs. Use the trade request guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best settings?

Windowed Fullscreen, current league, default shortcuts, minimal widgets, and broad filters are a stable start.

Where is the config folder?

On Windows, %APPDATA%\exiled-exchange-2; back up apt-data before resetting.

Can I change Ctrl+D?

Yes. Default and unassigned hotkeys can be changed in Settings.

Why does the price window close?

That is normal for Ctrl + D. Hold Ctrl or use Ctrl + Alt + D.

Final Checklist

Open Settings from the app or tray, use Windowed Fullscreen, keep defaults for initial testing, select the league, choose meaningful filters, enable minimal widgets, match permissions, and back up apt-data.
